Award winning Red Kite Community Nursery opened in 1972 and is open 5 mornings a week to children from age 2 years 9 months to school age. We are owned and managed by the local community (usually the parents of the children attending) and are a registered Scottish charity (No:SC016050) and a member of the Scottish Preschool Play Association (SPPA). We are in partnership with Stirling Council which allows us to offer free, Government funded places to all children (generally) the term after their third birthday (to learn more please visit the Scottish Families Information website). Like any Council run nursery or partnership nursery our practitioners are appropriately qualified and registered with the SSSC. Similarly we follow the Curriculum for Excellence, and are inspected regularly by SCSWIS and HMIe. Our provision is also monitored annually by Stirling Council.
Our nursery aims to provide an appropriate learning environment which values independence, choice and responsibility and respects the rights of children. As a group organised by parents, staff, and children, it provides a service, rooted in and meeting the needs of our local community. Your child will feel happy and secure in a safe and stimulating environment, enabling him/her to be able to develop confidence and self-esteem and a positive attitude towards others. Children have attended not just from Doune but also, Buchany, Blair Drummond, Brig O'Turk, Callander, Deanston, Dunblane, Lake of Menteith, and Thornhill.
We have an extensive range of play equipment including climbing frame, slide, bikes etc. We also have waterproof all-in-one suits, wellies and gloves for each child so we can play and go for walks come rain or shine! Plus, we have a fabulous, secure garden.
We are open Monday to Friday during term time, we offer three hour sessions from 9.15am - 12.25pm. We do operate a waiting list so encourage any interested parents/carers to apply for a place in good time.
